[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
When I have a file open in emacs for awhile, and the windows is out of
focux,
the window will hang if I click on it. This is with the GUI form of emacs.
I found a related issue that said to use the mouse and select "File |
Save As..." and then cancel the "Write file:" window that appears. This is
a bit of an inconvenience and should be resolved.
In case it makes a difference, I am running multi-term in emacs.

Probably a dupe of one of various fixed bugs with Emacs and recent gtk
versions, eg
http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=6499
Try
GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 emacs
or http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/emacs-23.2.91.tar.gz

Sorry to seem thick here... is that an environment variable setting?

Yes it is:
bash> export var=val
sets "var" for the rest of the shell session.
bash> var=val program
sets "var" just for the execution of "program".
Also note that Debian has more recent packages than the one you are
using, and it may well be fixed in one of those. Latest is 23.2+1-7.
It would be great if you test the pretest for the coming 23.3
though...

I have tried this invocation of emacs. It can run longer without hanging,
but it still hangs. I think I'm going to grab 23.3 and try it out.

Is there a nice way to get color-themes back with the compiled form of
emacs? I tried installing the goodies package and it wouldn't configure due
to the absence of the emacs23 package.
