We read

‘W E s’
     Remove all white space from the beginning of all lines of the
     article body (‘gnus-article-strip-leading-space’).

‘W E e’
     Remove all white space from the end of all lines of the article
     body (‘gnus-article-strip-trailing-space’).

OK, maybe add gnus-article-squeeze-space function,
that would turn e.g.,
A             B
into
A B

Messages with excessive white space at the start and end of lines are
common, which is why those two commands were added.  Excessive space in
the middle of text isn't.  Closing.

(And you can use the `W w' command if you want reformatting.)
