Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug.  If you can, give
a recipe starting from `emacs -Q':

1.  rm ~/.emacs
2.  emacs -q
3.  Options --> Show/Hide --> Tool-bar
4.  Tool-bar disappears, Emacs frame shrinks
5.  Options --> Save Options
6.  *Messages* stops on 'Loading battery...done'
7.  ~/.emacs still does not exist

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
