To my understanding, in this blog entry
https://guix.gnu.org/en/blog/2021/from-guix-environment-to-guix-shell/
they claim that "guix shell automatically loads guix.scm or
manifest.scm, from the current directory"
No need to "-m manifest.scm", then.
