If that were true then it would be an argument for
getting rid of extended menu items and defining
menus using define-key altogether.  Are you arguing
for that also?  If not, why not?

IOW, how about a "better" - meaning more refined or
precise - reason for what you want to do?  "It's
better" is not what I'd call a great argument.
