Message #5 received at submit <at> emacsbugs.donarmstrong.com (full text, mbox):
I've run into a disappearing cursor problem with latest gnu emacs
from cvs on Mac OS X.
emacs/nextstep/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs -Q
find-file ~/
move cursor with arrow keys to some file name
move mouse around so that the file name is highlighted in green
move mouse away
the cursor is gone.
sometimes it reappears after a couple of seconds, sometimes it takes
moving the mouse around a different part of the buffer to get the
cursor to reappear, but repeating the above steps would make the
cursor disappear again, and often it does not reappear unless the
cursor is moved, say, with the arrow keys.

this problem still occurs with the most recent emacs version on mac os
x. similar problems appear with other situations where highlighting
overlaps with cursor position. please let me know if additional
information is needed.

There's a long list of bugs in the NS package - it would be great if
people who know a bit of C or ObjC could take a look.
I suspect that this one is easy to fix - just make sure the cursor is
re-drawn when changing text with mouseover property (mouse highlight).

Yeah, I notice that turning on blink-cursor-mode makes this problem go
away.
