  M-x server-force-delete
  M-x server-start
  M-x term

  term# emacsclient -t

  M-x  <== Emacs X GUI blocked here!!!

Reproduced on manually-compiled 24.5.3 running under i3wm on 
Debian Jessie(+updates) x86_64.
