`delete-trailing-whitespace` deletes some of the text in a buffer.

To reproduce the issue, open the attached file using emacs -Q and then call
`M-x delete-trailing-whitespace'.

Yes, the bug was just filed as #21766 and we're working on it.

Thanks for your test case, which is *much* shorter than the one in
bug#21766.

I have also noticed this, but I was unable to reproduce it consistently.
I saw the text gobbling happen only in sh-script-mode till now. So
whenever that happened, I would switch to fundamental-mode to prevent
that.
