In Emacs 24.4, if I call toggle-frame-fullscreen twice, it does not
always return the window to its original size and position, in
particular if it was originally semi-maximized in gnome-shell (filling
half the screen, an effect obtained by dragging the window to its left
or right-hand side).

Replacing toggle-frame-fullscreen with this equivalent function that
uses wmctrl makes it work:
