Subject: bug#1942: 23.0.60; universal-coding-system-argument and shell-command problem
Date: Sat, 17 Jan 2009 16:29:11 -0500
Hello,

The documentation for shell-command says this:

"To specify a coding system for converting non-ASCII characters in
the shell command output, use C-x RET c before this command."

However, the following key sequence results in an error:

  C-x RET c RET M-!

The error is:

  universal-coding-system-argument: Wrong type argument: characterp,
134217761

Reproducable in emacs -q.

In GNU Emacs 23.0.60.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit)
 of 2009-01-02 on jupiter
Windowing system distributor `The X.Org Foundation', version 11.0.10402000
configured using `configure '--with-x' '--with-x-toolkit=lucid' '--without-xpm' '--without-jpeg' '--without-png' '--without-gif' '--without-tiff' '--without-rsvg' '--without-libotf' '--without-freetype' '--without-xft''
