Is the bug easily reproducible? If so, can you give a simple recipe for reproducing it, starting with "emacs -Q"? I don't know about helm-grep, so it'd help if you told me how to install it. Also, what does strace tell you? If you run this command: strace -f -o /tmp/emacs.tr emacs -Q can you reproduce the problem, and send the compressed emacs.tr here?
