Going from the version of Gnus included in Emacs 24.2 to the version
currently in the emacs-24 branch exposes the following regression:
selected articles are sometimes not highlighted properly, the
`gnus-summary-selected' face gets applied to the wrong line in the
summary, which is confusing.

This seems to happen only on articles which are part of a thread;
standalone articles get highlighted properly. Also, on an article which
hasn't been highlighted, doing `g' brings back the highlighting.

Let me know if you need more info, it's kinda hard to describe.

I tracked this down to `gnus-use-trees' being set: if I set it back to nil
(the default), the highlighting problem goes away.

I'm unable to reproduce this.  I have `gnus-use-trees' set, but I can't
see any difference in what's being highlighted.

Do you have any other customisations in effect that may influence Gnus
highlighting?

I don't think so, but my configuration is huge and has accumulated some
cruft over the last 12 years or so. So who knows...

Could you include a screenshot of what it looks like when it highlights
the wrong thing?
