tar xzvf ~/sources/automake-1.12.4.tar.gz 
cd automake-1.12.4/
./configure --prefix=/c5/shared/automake/1.12.4
make && make install && make check
....

FAIL: t/distcheck-override-infodir
FAIL: t/help2

One of the errors changed for 1.12.4:
