It is due to a limitation of the `is_newest' subroutine I hadn't thought about (i.e., it doesn't work as expected on directories). Should we hack around this, or try to fix the `is_newest' subroutine instead? I think fixing `is_newest' is the best route. Anyway, I'll be AFK until tomorrow, but then I'll give it a try (unless someone wants to beat me ;-) Regards, Stefano From unknown Wed Sep 10 13:24:08 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#9147: 6 test failures on Fedora 15 with latest from git Resent-From: Jim Meyering Original-Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Resent-To: owner@debbugs.gnu.org Resent-CC: bug-automake@gnu.org Resent-Date: Fri, 22 Jul 2011 12:33:02 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 9147 X-GNU-PR-Package: automake X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: Stefano Lattarini Cc: 9147@debbugs.gnu.org X-Debbugs-Original-Cc: bug-automake@gnu.org, 9147@debbugs.gnu.org Received: via spool by submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B.131133793830225 (code B ref -1); Fri, 22 Jul 2011 12:33:02 +0000 Received: (at submit) by debbugs.gnu.org; 22 Jul 2011 12:32:18 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEtt-0007rS-JJ for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:17 -0400 Received: from eggs.gnu.org ([140.186.70.92]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEtr-0007r6-OU for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:16 -0400 Received: from Debian-exim by eggs.gnu.org with spam-scanned (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEtl-0005fl-4J for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:10 -0400 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.3.1 (2010-03-16) on eggs.gnu.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-5.4 required=5.0 tests=BAYES_00,RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED, RP_MATCHES_RCVD autolearn=unavailable version=3.3.1 Received: from lists.gnu.org ([140.186.70.17]:60528) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEtk-0005fg-Rn for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:08 -0400 Received: from eggs.gnu.org ([140.186.70.92]:55104) by lists.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEtk-0004TF-JK for bug-automake@gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:08 -0400 Received: from Debian-exim by eggs.gnu.org with spam-scanned (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEtj-0005f8-1P for bug-automake@gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:08 -0400 Received: from mx.meyering.net ([82.230.74.64]:51052) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1QkEti-0005ee-RN for bug-automake@gnu.org; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 08:32:07 -0400 Received: from rho.meyering.net (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by rho.meyering.net (Acme Bit-Twister) with ESMTP id 4BE046005B; Fri, 22 Jul 2011 14:32:05 +0200 (CEST) From: Jim Meyering In-Reply-To: <201107221408.56086.stefano.lattarini@gmail.com> (Stefano Lattarini's message of "Fri, 22 Jul 2011 14:08:55 +0200") References: <87ipqubn6n.fsf@rho.meyering.net> <201107221408.56086.stefano.lattarini@gmail.com> Date: Fri, 22 Jul 2011 14:32:05 +0200 Message-ID: <87zkk6a43e.fsf@rho.meyering.net> Lines: 54 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain X-detected-operating-system: by eggs.gnu.org: Genre and OS details not recognized. A quick note about quoting: when there are hundreds of lines of quoted text, and you insert a couple groups of 5-6 lines, it's good to remove as much of that context as possible, if only so that those trying to read your reply will not accidentally skip over some part of it (I nearly did just that).
