In the Extent section of variables.texi, you can find the following:

@cindex closures not available
  Some Lisp dialects have ``closures,'' objects that are like functions
but record additional variable bindings.  Emacs Lisp does not have
closures.

This is no longer correct.  Also, it would be nice to add a 
 @cindex closures
to the Lexical Binding node.

In GNU Emacs 24.0.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.24.4)
