You don't really need a patch for this. Just add "\\<help-mode-map>"
to this string:

(concat "Use "      ; <== ADD "\\<help-mode-map>" HERE
        (if (display-mouse-p) "\\[help-follow-mouse] or ")
        "\\[help-follow] on a face name to customize it\n"
        "or on its sample text for a description of the face.\n\n")

Without that addition the help text says this:

"Use <mouse-2> or M-x help-follow on a face name..."

instead of this:

"Use <mouse-2> or RET on a face name..."
