There's no invisible text anywhere in sight in linum.el, AFAICT. It works by creating overlays with before-string properties that are displayed in the left margin area. Before-strings in the margins is something I never tried before under bidi-display-reordering, so it's not a surprise it has problems. However, since I'm working on reordering strings, which will directly affect this use case (and also holds off code freeze), I'm putting this on hold until that job is done. > In fact, I thought this problem was already reported, but I've been > unable to find the relevant bug#, so perhaps no. No, bug#7616 I remember because I have code in my .emacs to disable bidi in some cases where it causes trouble (like vc-annotate and Info mode). The thing is, I seem to remember discussing the linum bug with you a while ago, but I cannot find any relevant e-mail or bug report, so perhaps I only thought of doing it. =C2=A0 =C2=A0 Juanma From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Thu Jun 16 11:09:31 2011 Received: (at 8867) by debbugs.gnu.org; 16 Jun 2011 15:09:31 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1QXECI-0005xA-OW for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 16 Jun 2011 11:09:30 -0400 Received: from mtaout21.012.net.il ([80.179.55.169]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1QXECH-0005wx-8u for 8867@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 16 Jun 2011 11:09:29 -0400 Received: from conversion-daemon.a-mtaout21.012.net.il by a-mtaout21.012.net.il (HyperSendmail v2007.08) id <0LMW001001WPC300@a-mtaout21.012.net.il> for 8867@debbugs.gnu.org; Thu, 16 Jun 2011 18:09:14 +0300 (IDT) Received: from HOME-C4E4A596F7 ([77.126.164.125]) by a-mtaout21.012.net.il (HyperSendmail v2007.08) with ESMTPA id <0LMW001JY23C9A40@a-mtaout21.012.net.il>; Thu, 16 Jun 2011 18:09:14 +0300 (IDT) Date: Thu, 16 Jun 2011 18:07:13 +0300 From: Eli Zaretskii Subject: Re: bug#8867: 24.0.50; bidi-display-reordering + lino-mode + move-up = beginning of buffer In-reply-to: X-012-Sender: halo1@inter.net.il To: Juanma Barranquero Message-id: <83ei2tyfvi.fsf@gnu.org> References: <83fwnaxypp.fsf@gnu.org> X-Spam-Score: -2.1 (--) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: 8867 Cc: contrib@chenlevy.com, 8867@debbugs.gnu.org, monnier@iro.umontreal.ca X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.11 Precedence: list Reply-To: Eli Zaretskii List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -2.1 (--) > From: Juanma Barranquero > Date: Thu, 16 Jun 2011 05:17:16 +0200 > Cc: monnier@iro.umontreal.ca, contrib@chenlevy.com, 8867@debbugs.gnu.org > > The thing is, I seem to remember discussing the linum bug with you a > while ago If we did, I cannot find it in any of my mail archives.
