While on this subject; all the other autotools entitle their invocation nodes "autofoo Invocation", whereas automake calls its "Invoking Automake". To invoke the Top node, one had to issue the command "info Automake" instead (note the different capitalization). This was suboptimal, and certainly confusing. With this change, "info automake" will open the Top node of the automake documentation; to access the nodes about the invocation of the automake and aclocal program, one has now to issue "info automake-invocation" and "info aclocal-invocation" respectively. This change fixes automake bug#8071. This can be fixed by using an @anchor{} to the old name at the same location as you switch to the new consistent node name. The tools will then keep the old link live by virtue of the anchor, without having to mess with .symlinks. --=20 Eric Blake eblake@redhat.com +1-919-301-3266 Libvirt virtualization library http://libvirt.org --------------enig6BC3B3C2CCDA30EC85810CF7 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Public key at http://people.redhat.com/eblake/eblake.gpg Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBCAAGBQJO+xCKAAoJEKeha0olJ0NqoFoH/ibcHq9BtclqxnP1sEKZ143S EDBwK6N9zbsCSKV08QFE1eTqg3N9m+vYLNpBl6PJFHaNrjjfG88BCwBM/82NfOgz tX+1KTHpEU1YesHosevcgeQ/dqB2o0ld/uw4UynHkGnHb/OOsoqv65/tUj/7pk3R Of+vw+IE22799ZOfI4D8YWcc2YAv2cVxgWFA/URftothnvLCRW82O8ib/uyDxgyb RL4DkO72929Z9xnsqcOIkTUa9bnHnsdFxlaONFtYS4ULIVnE70ygu0DptJ03ppTo xaDUdd/ckdLe0D3NmXWWTX3OgdvmZYjDk39E0y8ONuy2+LzO1MgMI8Bw6YN1QuQ= =up/H -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig6BC3B3C2CCDA30EC85810CF7-- From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Wed Dec 28 14:36:42 2011 Received: (at 8071) by debbugs.gnu.org; 28 Dec 2011 19:36:42 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1RfzIn-0006OV-PM for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 28 Dec 2011 14:36:42 -0500 Received: from mail-ee0-f44.google.com ([74.125.83.44]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1RfzIl-0006ON-R2 for 8071@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 28 Dec 2011 14:36:40 -0500 Received: by eekc14 with SMTP id c14so13258099eek.3 for <8071@debbugs.gnu.org>; Wed, 28 Dec 2011 11:33:53 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=message-id:date:from:mime-version:to:cc:subject:references :in-reply-to:content-type; bh=V5xQffVvXUfLsbz+4XyuQkxasCMuSbRwWfaTQVv5AxU=; b=Q2ppDA1BXYYg+Nj13AnK26Gv1fODolQtEO2uHBWjs6pjgk7MONnl1M4QH+UJKFt1Xu WG8QhWWb+NGbo1sMqOS1SikM0RJi5lAb+J5rd4Z250rIwZ8YavC5CAA4S4AYH4s5az+l 4qfC4iKG3Rmq81pvZsGf1Jz0AW7fJ/ReWawLU= Received: by 10.14.16.38 with SMTP id g38mr10339047eeg.56.1325100833397; Wed, 28 Dec 2011 11:33:53 -0800 (PST) Received: from [87.2.102.244] (host244-102-dynamic.2-87-r.retail.telecomitalia.it. Also, looking in that directory, I see doc/automake.html/Invoking-aclocal.html with contents: which means the anchor got associated with the page Optional.html, instead of the desired aclocal-Invocation.html. Unfortunately, these anchors had been erroneously placed *before* the relevant `@node' commands, instead that just after, so that they ended up pointing to the wrong chapters. Fix this. Since we are at it, tweak the wording of the comments to the anchors to better match that used in the autoconf manual.
