Thanks for checking. I installed fixes to Autoconf, Gnulib and Coreutils 
to try to address the two bug reports <https://bugs.gnu.org/78562> and 
<https://bugs.gnu.org/78562>.

The fixes are so complicated that patching is not likely to be easy, so 
I generated a complete coreutils distribution tarball with the changes. 
Please try this tarball. You can get it temporarily from:

https://web.cs.ucla.edu/~eggert/coreutils-9.7.39-c8d75.tar.gz

... or you can generate the tarball yourself from Savannah git master 
coreutils.
