In my case, I know that's really ispell that > EZ> ispell.el invokes, because I don't have the other two installed. > > ispell-really-hunspell nil > ispell-really-aspell "0.60.6" That's it: you are actually using aspell inside Emacs. So I'm closing this bug. > $ echo transfered |/usr/bin/spell # http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/transfered #misspelling > $ echo transferred |/usr/bin/spell > $ echo transferrred|/usr/bin/spell > transferrred > > $ cat t > transfered > $ ispell t Only the last one is of (casual) interest to this issue, and I cannot reproduce it: for me, ispell highlights "transfered" as a misspelling and shows exactly the same choices as inside Emacs. Maybe you should do a "type ispell", perhaps there are more surprises there. ------------=_1293335702-23623-1 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Received: (at submit) by debbugs.gnu.org; 25 Dec 2010 02:36:01 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1PWJzE-00071q-Kh for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:36:00 -0500 Received: from eggs.gnu.org ([140.186.70.92]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1PWJzC-00071d-Ew for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:35:59 -0500 Received: from Debian-exim by eggs.gnu.org with spam-scanned (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1PWK5e-0006eH-SI for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:42:39 -0500 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.3.1 (2010-03-16) on eggs.gnu.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-1.9 required=5.0 tests=BAYES_00, RCVD_IN_DNSWL_NONE, T_DKIM_INVALID autolearn=unavailable version=3.3.1 Received: from lists.gnu.org ([199.232.76.165]:45774) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1PWK5e-0006dz-0a for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:42:38 -0500 Received: from [140.186.70.92] (port=47620 helo=eggs.gnu.org) by lists.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.43) id 1PWK5K-0006pc-Ox for bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:42:25 -0500 Received: from Debian-exim by eggs.gnu.org with spam-scanned (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1PWK52-0006bK-Ki for bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:42:02 -0500 Received: from caiajhbdcagg.dreamhost.com ([208.97.132.66]:55973 helo=homiemail-a5.g.dreamhost.com) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1PWK52-0006b6-Du for bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 21:42:00 -0500 Received: from homiemail-a5.g.dreamhost.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by homiemail-a5.g.dreamhost.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4A5A070406A; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 18:41:58 -0800 (PST) DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=jidanni.org; h=from:to:cc:subject :date:message-id:mime-version:content-type; q=dns; s=jidanni.org ; b=Y1dCB2Ffl6lHlB3VUv10r9C09Q1gU8+BrBGJrAREz+hxkSpb6GzUYusP+pGz uGzOJR/0ezg+suttQ0yOrP6vIxB5S3eWrQXgi2sNxmGZy5HMdZDnzQeOxYNOlING H+CdIfGn6oErUpSPDhlRlfp6h8Kxbc+wcf8YocUSNN+y/9U= DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha1; c=relaxed; d=jidanni.org; h=from:to:cc :subject:date:message-id:mime-version:content-type; s= jidanni.org; bh=dbznbmVqYU0B5JOJcdV7y2k6MeU=; b=LwAU9YjOiv2UXxjX Vnh6gST2NAyLj+/ANe5SzYHizBggFQeeeZ4Fi2GqPzArpAx9i2Ysp9Y7u0K3rK4U zEopZPMXKokjDRWOmtpvxlvUXNcaOaQ8+0saiKZwoLR84WiXCRqwUW/WWVkRD6gQ 2PyCyI8bzpcZ5oRfZlQoLHdHvc0= Received: from jidanni.org (218-163-5-83.dynamic.hinet.net [218.163.5.83]) (using TLSv1 with cipher AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) (Authenticated sender: jidanni@jidanni.org) by homiemail-a5.g.dreamhost.com (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 602B8704014; Fri, 24 Dec 2010 18:41:57 -0800 (PST) From: jidanni@jidanni.org To: bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org Subject: ispell-buffer always gives bogus (0) and (1) choices Date: Sat, 25 Dec 2010 09:55:36 +0800 Message-ID: <87oc8asjjb.fsf@jidanni.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain X-detected-operating-system: by eggs.gnu.org: GNU/Linux 2.6 (newer, 3) X-detected-operating-system: by eggs.gnu.org: GNU/Linux 2.6 (newer, 2) X-Spam-Score: -5.4 (-----) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: submit Cc: rfrancoise@debian.org X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.11 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -5.4 (-----) Why can't i/flyspell get the order correctly? $ cat file transfered extention $ ispell file 0: extension 1: extent ion 2: extent-ion Whereas ispell-buffer always has these bogus (0) and (1) choices: $ LANG=C LC_ALL=C HOME=/tmp emacs -nw file M-x ispell-buffer Affix rules generate and capitalize this word as shown below: transfer+ed Use option `i' to accept this spelling and put it in your private dictionary.(0) transfer ed (1) transfer-ed (2) transferred (3) transferee (4) transferees (5) transformed (6) transversed (7) transferee's (0) extent ion (1) extent-ion (2) extension (3) extenuation (4) extensions (5) extinction (6) extortion (7) extending (8) extension's (9) extensional (:) extenuation's By the way, why does $ spell file #and ispell too not say anything about 'transfered', but in emacs ispell does?
