Don't worry.  I suspect that the behavior you see is caused by an
asynchronous process (like native compilation) that triggers
'display-warning' and that function recursively triggers a warning
itself.  But I'm still groping in the dark for a way to debug such
behavior.  Maybe we can eliminate some suspects as follows: Do

(setopt warning-display-at-bottom nil)

and conduct your experiment again.
