I've since been able to complete a guix pull; which makes this bug
report unhelpful.  If not automatically closed, please feel free to
close it.

If anything the bug here is simply that a deeply nested and local networking error
can prevent guix from completing the calculation of a valid derivative.
The real source of the error might be improved in an ideal world.
We don't have one of those; just the natural one.
