Yes, -I is a synonym for --iso-8601, but both options were deprecated in 2005 by commit 2c29ba03 (and hence undocumented). One real fix would be to start making this option output a warning, so that we can delete it. http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-coreutils/2005-09/msg00056.html http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-coreutils/2005-07/msg00186.html Another would be to teach getdate.y how to parse 'T' as the separator between date and time, so that we could reinstate the option (it was deprecated because we feel badly about supporting an output format that we can't reparse as an input format). --=20 Eric Blake eblake@redhat.com +1-801-349-2682 Libvirt virtualization library http://libvirt.org --------------enig2723A723B28E1ACBECCCD553 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Public key at http://people.redhat.com/eblake/eblake.gpg Comment: Using GnuPG with Fedora - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBCAAGBQJM5pMPAAoJEKeha0olJ0NqQr4H/1/WMgq++qyCt1WX0TeyxUQ4 M6W/6RAv6piuHDal9DAB7NEMwZpFC0jNAc0WRJyLUD+U9/+mgYzxTN7gHoSOqdxc 8gaq5C7UgraG9mJ/EkWRv3SjhKnHURpa0tiLHtyo15jRG9flKfoWzdFV58iMprjZ iztySYtXgzatRaaGohZscYhi+gMgZgJPB9STK1dbDvWOKFtTRfuqbYxDzxES61PW Vh7FAS7JRaZlemKkmeU33jH9fn9mTAvCGUxbPA6CMnFdM11uwDDo/832PDg6XlaN yJJ367YdbC3GkbxJVcoyuEHF4UzwE0GQd8mvMWVVIW1U0nnwP/LzLdRVCpys9uI= =n4UK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig2723A723B28E1ACBECCCD553-- From unknown Sun Jun 22 11:38:26 2025 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: MIME-tools 5.427 (Entity 5.427) X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org From: help-debbugs@gnu.org (GNU bug Tracking System) To: depesz@depesz.com Subject: bug#7444: closed (Re: [PATCH] date: reinstate the --iso-8601 (-I) option) Message-ID: References: <878vo5nmuu.fsf@rho.meyering.net> <20101119135253.GA10307@depesz.com> X-Gnu-PR-Message: they-closed 7444 X-Gnu-PR-Package: coreutils Reply-To: 7444@debbugs.gnu.org Date: Fri, 28 Oct 2011 15:46:02 +0000 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----------=_1319816762-14254-1" This is a multi-part message in MIME format... ------------=_1319816762-14254-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Your bug report #7444: Undocumented option -I ? which was filed against the coreutils package, has been closed.
