Please try again with `make bootstrap'.
(Also you did not say what you version you are trying to build.)

Lots of stale .elc files.

> eshell/esh-util.el:642:13:Error: Cannot open load file: tramp-fish

Removed from trunk 2010-09-13. Presumably you have stale .elc file
still referring to it.
