You are right, they've probably changed this silently in the recent Windows versions. It just somehow fails to read from redirected file in this specific case, when invoked outside of MSYS Bash. Hmm... Ahh, found the problem: for some reason this version of 'tac' needs Unix EOLs in the file. So I have now fixed the test.
