Hmm... apparently my machine failed to read my mind and dutifully used
the Emacs I told it to use rather than the one I was working on, so
no wonder the tests worked fine.

I have pushed further fixes to my typo-laden code.
It seems to work OK for me now, but I'd like to hear other people's
experience with it.
