Subject: Broken search mechanism

Hello. I don't really know to what e-mail address should I send this
message, but I just wanted to warn about the search mechanism of
Parted's documentation, and probably other software made by GNU.

Example: https://www.gnu.org/software/parted/api/search.php?query=partition

The page gets entirely broken when I try to search something.

Best regards,

Nicolas.

It's probably good it is broken, apparently that hasn't been updated
since "Fri May 4 05:15:31 2007" so it's guaranteed to be inaccurate.

I'll see if I can track down what generates those pages. I'm not even
sure Doxygen will generate useful output with the current codebase, I
know I've never tried.

Thanks,

Brian

FWIW, only the search feature is broken - all of the docs are complete
(and probably inaccurate) - would be better to take the site down if the web
docs can not be repaired

Hello.

Sorry, I didn't notice it hasn't been updated since 2007. If fixing or
updating the site is not possible, I'd ask the admins to just put a
warning saying it's outdated, instead of taking it down. I personally
like web documentations, and I think more users also like them. Even
this being 16 years outdated (!), most of the things still make sense.

Thanks!

Nicolas -

just to note, the nice thing about doxygen is that it that is part if the
code-base - it does not need to be maintained separately or in a database like
those "modern web" deals; and the project does not even need to host it publicly
- any user with the source code can generate their own local website exactly
like the one the project would host - you could probably do that now - in a
only few minutes, you would have a better version of that same website ready
for use, presuming that the program source code is still well-documented (and
still correct)

Thanks for pointing it out, Bill. I generated the documentation locally
and it feels way better to browse.

Best regards (and a happy new year).

Nicolas.

https://www.gnu.org/software/parted/api/index.html has been updated for
libparted 3.6 using Doxygen 1.9.6
