[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!
Please write in English if possible, because the Emacs maintainers
usually do not have translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the emacs-pretest-bug <at> gnu.org mailing
list,
and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group.

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug. If you can, give
a recipe starting from `emacs -Q':

====== reproducting the bug =======
1) emacs -Q

2) type the following text (abcd in three lines),
abcd
abcd
abcd

3) put the point before the first "a"

4) record a kbd-macro that searches "b" and type delete (NOT C-d), that is,
type

C-x ( C-s b del C-x )

5) when recording the kbd-macro, the first line becomes "abd" (c gets
deleted)

6) repeat the kbd-macro twice. The text becomes
abd
ab
ab

(that is, 2 chars are deleted!!)

7) type M-x edit-last-kbd-macro RET and see the strange 2* in the output:

;; Keyboard Macro Editor. Press C-c C-c to finish; press C-x k RET to
cancel.
;; Original keys: C-s b 2*C-d

Command: last-kbd-macro
Key: none

Macro:

C-s            ;; isearch-forward
b            ;; self-insert-command
2*C-d            ;; delete-char

8) note: I typed del and NOT C-d. Using C-d instead, the bug does not
happen.

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
For information about debugging Emacs, please read the file

Seems have been fixed in Emacs 24, probably 24.1 though I only tested
24.3; this ChangeLog entry seems relevant (corresponds to b8a47412)

    * bindings.el (global-map): Bind C-d to delete-char and deletechar
    to delete-forward-char.

    * simple.el (normal-erase-is-backspace-mode): Remap delete to
    deletechar, and hence delete-forward-char.
