I changed this to ‘and/or’, since ‘i.e.’ would imply that the selection 
and clipboard are the same.

While xsel does also support the clipboard, it won't touch it by default 
unless you explicitly pass the ‘--clipboard’ option.  Only the (primary) 
‘--selection’ is the default.  After all, it's xsel, not xclip.

I also added the modified fields to the commit message like so:

  * gnu/packages/xdisorg.scm (xsel)[synopsis, description]: …

and pushed to master as 4528fd6bbeed097d7c6871dbc5268502444755cd.
