If you have a fix, why don't you commit it? If you don't have a fix *now*, why is the breakage not reverted for the time being? I didn't even get any reaction on this question. I don't expect the trunk to be perfectly usable all the time, but I fail to see any value in leaving a known and repeatedly reported breakage in for an extended period of time. Anyway, thanks for at least expressing your (IMO overly) optimistic view on the matter. =C5=A0t=C4=9Bp=C3=A1n From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Tue Jun 29 08:09:42 2010 Received: (at 6535) by debbugs.gnu.org; 29 Jun 2010 12:09:42 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1OTZdE-0003FU-Rp for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 29 Jun 2010 08:09:41 -0400 Received: from smtprelay-h11.telenor.se ([62.127.194.4]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1OTZdD-0003FM-6C for 6535@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 29 Jun 2010 08:09:39 -0400 Received: from ipb3.telenor.se (ipb3.telenor.se [195.54.127.166]) by smtprelay-h11.telenor.se (Postfix) with ESMTP id 37808FE84 for <6535@debbugs.gnu.org>; Tue, 29 Jun 2010 14:09:33 +0200 (CEST) X-SENDER-IP: [85.225.45.35] X-IronPort-Anti-Spam-Filtered: true X-IronPort-Anti-Spam-Result: AkszALJ/KUxV4S0jPGdsb2JhbACfOgwBAQEBNS2+eYJ4AYIrBA X-IronPort-AV: E=Sophos;i="4.53,505,1272837600"; d="scan'208";a="539249241" Received: from c-232de155.25-1-64736c10.cust.bredbandsbolaget.se (HELO coolsville.localdomain) ([85.225.45.35]) by ipb3.telenor.se with ESMTP; 29 Jun 2010 14:09:32 +0200 Received: from [172.20.199.13] (zeplin [172.20.199.13]) by coolsville.localdomain (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 219D17FA05A; Tue, 29 Jun 2010 14:09:32 +0200 (CEST) Message-ID: <4C29E27B.5060100@swipnet.se> Date: Tue, 29 Jun 2010 14:09:31 +0200 From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Jan_Dj=E4rv?= User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; sv-SE; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100608 Thunderbird/3.1 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: john ffitch Subject: Re: bug#6535: 24.0.50; grep seems not to work References: <6813-Mon28Jun2010175948+0100-jpff@codemist.co.uk> <4C29BEFC.8020908@swipnet.se> <2569-Tue29Jun2010111025+0100-jpff@codemist.co.uk> In-Reply-To: <2569-Tue29Jun2010111025+0100-jpff@codemist.co.uk> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Spam-Score: -2.8 (--) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: 6535 Cc: 6535@debbugs.gnu.org X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.11 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -2.8 (--) john ffitch skrev 2010-06-29 12.10: > I run tcsh as I have done for ~25yrs. Check if you have this in /etc/csh.cshrc, I have it on Suse 11.2: # # Avoid trouble with Emacs shell mode # if ($?EMACS) then setenv LS_OPTIONS '-N --color=none -T 0'; path tset -I -Q path stty cooked pass8 dec nl -echo # if ($?tcsh) unset edit endif You can force Emacs to use sh or bash if you customize shell-file-name. I don't know if Emacs should be able to handle this. Jan D. The code mentions the same problem to the current one (EOF showing up as = ^D)=20 because the terminal is in raw mode. The scenario is that Emacs puts the= =20 terminal in icanon mode and then the subprocess puts it in raw, ^D will b= e=20 seen by the subprocess because Emacs sends EOF as a means to flush output= .
