Trying some examples in the Cookbook [1] I saw with a recent checkout:

$ make check-system
Compiling Scheme modules...
Compiling Scheme modules...
Compiling Scheme modules...
Compiling Scheme modules...
Compiling Scheme modules...
guix build: error: git_libgit2_init: Function not implemented
make: *** [Makefile:6867: check-system] Error 1
