It works very well in my usage so far, except for this one issue as described below. 1. Visit a buffer and turn `jit-spell-mode' on. 2. Move point to a misspelling and type `M-$ i' to insert the word in the dictionary. 3. `M-$ i' now correctly reports that the word is spelled correctly according to the dictionary, but the misspell marking from jit-spell is still present. Killing the buffer and visiting the file anew doesn't fix the issue, but restarting Emacs does. It would be very nice if jit-spell could update the marking the fly in these cases without the need to restart Emacs. -- Simen From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Tue Mar 07 09:02:57 2023 Received: (at submit) by debbugs.gnu.org; 7 Mar 2023 14:02:57 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:44889 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1pZXu5-0004MI-Ad for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 07 Mar 2023 09:02:57 -0500 Received: from lists.gnu.org ([209.51.188.17]:33442) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1pZXu3-0004MA-EG for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 07 Mar 2023 09:02:55 -0500 Received: from eggs.gnu.org ([2001:470:142:3::10]) by lists.gnu.org with esmtps (TLS1.2:ECDHE_RSA_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256) (Exim 4.90_1) (envelope-from ) id 1pZXu3-0006Eo-3r for bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org; Tue, 07 Mar 2023 09:02:55 -0500 Received: from mail-ed1-x52d.google.com ([2a00:1450:4864:20::52d]) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtps (TLS1.2:ECDHE_RSA_AES_128_GCM_SHA256:128) (Exim 4.90_1) (envelope-from ) id 1pZXu1-0001dy-C8 for bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org; Tue, 07 Mar 2023 09:02:54 -0500 Received: by mail-ed1-x52d.google.com with SMTP id ay14so48948835edb.11 for ; Tue, 07 Mar 2023 06:02:52 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20210112; t=1678197771; h=content-transfer-encoding:mime-version:user-agent:message-id:date :references:in-reply-to:subject:cc:to:from:from:to:cc:subject:date :message-id:reply-to; bh=/JTo0NhmDqBZiKpOhn9xkSziMbPl9w+zZ1sFGPyyyfU=; b=I2hvUbuRaCiYr3fM3uKTxBF6YuIrN8MHvNIpF+V3y6a9nAWRDViZOJGCbL+S0pka0L Gu8xSnCtdKPVsjlqEQ4q4bN+kmCJBlxauT8OhkU7CRvcVE6Ce/f9YMQJPPqlcP2F0+Wm pcCc7KkMbsTFA7ElIAAlNgI3gEadlVSRGnGpArOzG4rxwD74ygxxLJFnu4868pXgOywA PgohhlJlaSYQdqBzxQkidDGX2wjMDfahx3TnJFioTQoy/V9cpHV97lVCHx29qpbFFdAe XXSlZ06xgk65qluXR8ErYS5hSNf91BJk//LqvsdsXuT9SiildaSq3xj0ntIt7kykjoQT NmXA== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20210112; t=1678197771; h=content-transfer-encoding:mime-version:user-agent:message-id:date :references:in-reply-to:subject:cc:to:from:x-gm-message-state:from :to:cc:subject:date:message-id:reply-to; bh=/JTo0NhmDqBZiKpOhn9xkSziMbPl9w+zZ1sFGPyyyfU=; b=RUn48GGlsZJwLEY73adHi2tsaVKOLo4tj0ozQazJoOqOetmCkcAv+pY7Il3cGymIkI DIxvp+eALJzdqokINUgtSDBlCKWbRs21gpra/Tp+qmbbZs9KMlASzWNLujmU/EjKDD7Z 6/Hf3u1nhxw1JVvZ/6LgXjBaJSeslewCO3q9mN1M53+URYXrtnB4AHdW1taYD0N52e17 PxMhFixzwNzA1FB3C8+3HPU4sfz0SpfdardIepA6TSKEBQ3xJMVAhxb+r6vUzadtGbmh V/g4wd5I2CIE/cKCfd0N2yHRXDax5zVTfpG0HsiqMCn1v3ZmLMowu0n1lUohj0vMLtQS XVUA== X-Gm-Message-State: AO0yUKXIE7XORNHSCl7Wtct7mpAj0n/RtqxrwawZL1EMnyuKFZfO9672 x/LZyRKtPYa9lwsMe140uAzvsGMY9MOjrw== X-Google-Smtp-Source: AK7set/5epEM3ZDsYIMtoScfo629s0hqyLiGQbfgHFYbqHgdy5lj4lHeJttIgoJJTuSLYbnc/gFQkQ== X-Received: by 2002:a17:907:2bc1:b0:88e:682e:3a9e with SMTP id gv1-20020a1709072bc100b0088e682e3a9emr13147904ejc.61.1678197770741; Tue, 07 Mar 2023 06:02:50 -0800 (PST) Received: from ars3 ([2a02:8109:8ac0:56d0::8b3a]) by smtp.gmail.com with ESMTPSA id r15-20020a50c00f000000b004bbc90e1fa3sm6768944edb.93.2023.03.07.06.02.49 (version=TLS1_3 cipher=TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 bits=256/256); Tue, 07 Mar 2023 06:02:50 -0800 (PST) From: Augusto Stoffel To: Simen =?utf-8?Q?Heggest=C3=B8yl?= Subject: Re: 29.0.60; [elpa/jit-spell] Misspellings not updated In-Reply-To: <87edq180qi.fsf@runbox.com> ("Simen =?utf-8?Q?Heggest=C3=B8yl?= =?utf-8?Q?=22's?= message of "Tue, 07 Mar 2023 08:44:05 +0100") References: <87edq180qi.fsf@runbox.com> Date: Tue, 07 Mar 2023 15:02:48 +0100 Message-ID: <87cz5ky7zr.fsf@gmail.com> User-Agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Received-SPF: pass client-ip=2a00:1450:4864:20::52d; envelope-from=arstoffel@gmail.com; helo=mail-ed1-x52d.google.com X-Spam_score_int: -20 X-Spam_score: -2.1 X-Spam_bar: -- X-Spam_report: (-2.1 / 5.0 requ) BAYES_00=-1.9, DKIM_SIGNED=0.1, DKIM_VALID=-0.1, DKIM_VALID_AU=-0.1, DKIM_VALID_EF=-0.1, FREEMAIL_FROM=0.001, RCVD_IN_DNSWL_NONE=-0.0001, SPF_HELO_NONE=0.001, SPF_PASS=-0.001 autolearn=ham autolearn_force=no X-Spam_action: no action X-Spam-Score: -1.3 (-) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: submit Cc: bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -2.3 (--) On Tue, 7 Mar 2023 at 08:44, Simen Heggest=C3=B8yl wrote: > Hi Augusto, thanks for writing this nice package. Yes, this happens because jit-spell and the built in ispell commands don't share their subprocesses. I'll look for a solution. PS: I think the `ispell-buffer' an related commands are still relevant, but if you just want to correct one word, `jit-spell-correct-word' is probably a better tool. In this case, does it make sense to remap `ispell-word' to `jit-spell-correct-word' in the minor mode? Haven't used your package, but it sounds like a drop-in replacement for vanilla `ispell-word'. -- Best, RY
