diff mode could distinguish changed from deleted lines

in 27.1 i am not getting this.
i am getting this:
file aaa: now is the time
file bbb: now is the time for all good men
now you diff this
with result:
line 1: -now is the time
line 2: +now is the time /for all good men/
line 1 does not indicate that anything was deleted. i request that
diff-mode do so, if possible. line 2 is correct.
what i need is an indication that something is lacking in line 1. i
do not need the text that is lacking.
