This Emacs is somewhat old; I have not built a newer one. I will try to do so soon. I visit the text between the ---- lines (not including them) in Fundamental mode, do M-x delete-selection-mode RET to enable it, then I go to the blank line after the first paragraph and type C-SPC C-u C-n M-w C-x C-x C-u C-y and the text does not change. Apparently C-u C-y deletes the region before yanking. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * ACTA must respect sharing and cooperation: it must do nothing that would hinder the unremunerated noncommercial making, copying, giving, lending, owning, using, transporting, importing or exporting of any objects or works. * ACTA must not weasel about what is commercial: no labeling of any noncommercial activities as somehow commercial-like or treating them as if they were commercial. * ACTA must not tighten digital handcuffs: it must not hinder any activity in regard to any product on account of its capacity to circumvent technical measures that restrict use of copies of works of authorship. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From unknown Wed Aug 20 03:22:54 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#6073: 23.1.50; delete-selection-mode Resent-From: "Drew Adams" Original-Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Resent-To: owner@debbugs.gnu.org Resent-CC: bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org Resent-Date: Sat, 01 May 2010 20:08:02 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 6073 X-GNU-PR-Package: emacs X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: , <6073@debbugs.gnu.org> Received: via spool by 6073-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B6073.12727444484291 (code B ref 6073); Sat, 01 May 2010 20:08:02 +0000 Received: (at 6073) by debbugs.gnu.org; 1 May 2010 20:07:28 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1O8IyG-00017A-1M for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Sat, 01 May 2010 16:07:28 -0400 Received: from rcsinet10.oracle.com ([148.87.113.121]) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.69) (envelope-from ) id 1O8IyD-000175-Ax for 6073@debbugs.gnu.org; Sat, 01 May 2010 16:07:26 -0400 Received: from acsinet15.oracle.com (acsinet15.oracle.com [141.146.126.227]) by rcsinet10.oracle.com (Switch-3.4.2/Switch-3.4.1) with ESMTP id o41K7INU031632 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=OK); Sat, 1 May 2010 20:07:20 GMT Received: from acsmt354.oracle.com (acsmt354.oracle.com [141.146.40.154]) by acsinet15.oracle.com (Switch-3.4.2/Switch-3.4.1) with ESMTP id o41K1eCG011291; Sat, 1 May 2010 20:07:18 GMT Received: from abhmt001.oracle.com by acsmt354.oracle.com with ESMTP id 207056621272744416; Sat, 01 May 2010 13:06:56 -0700 Received: from dradamslap1 (/141.144.168.43) by default (Oracle Beehive Gateway v4.0) with ESMTP ; Sat, 01 May 2010 13:06:56 -0700 From: "Drew Adams" References: Date: Sat, 1 May 2010 13:07:05 -0700 Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook 11 In-Reply-To: Thread-Index: AcrpX/JQCgUPH8gaQ0Wh4u0wdOfcugACaW6g X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.5579 X-Auth-Type: Internal IP X-Source-IP: acsinet15.oracle.com [141.146.126.227] X-CT-RefId: str=0001.0A090207.4BDC89F8.0134:SCFMA922111,ss=1,fgs=0 X-Spam-Score: -4.2 (----) X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.11 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org X-Spam-Score: -4.1 (----) > I found a reproducible test case for the painful result I mentioned > before with C-u C-y in Delete Selection mode. > > This Emacs is somewhat old; I have not built a newer one. > I will try to do so soon. > > I visit the text between the ---- lines (not including them) > in Fundamental mode, do M-x delete-selection-mode RET to enable it, > then I go to the blank line after the first paragraph and type > C-SPC C-u C-n M-w C-x C-x C-u C-y > and the text does not change.
