For the sake of completeness: these commands are meant to be used with 
their bindings, which are

C-<wheel-up> / C-<wheel-down> / C-x C-- / C-x C-+ / C-x C-0 / C-x C-=

and

C-M-<wheel-up> / C-M-<wheel-down> / C-x C-M-- / C-x C-M-+ / C-x C-M-0 / C-x C-M-=
