…and I guess you just installed v1.1.0rc2.  Why not the last release as
v1.3?  Or even the latest?

Well, it is probably a transient network issue.  Have you tried to
repeat the “guix pull --commit=9eabe0e” command?  If yes, does it break
systematically?
