These variables were recently added to our .dir-locals.el, and they have appropriate safe-variable properties that prevent the prompt -- but only as long as you use a recent enough build of Emacs. If you update from Git, but don't rebuild Emacs after the update, or if you use an older version of Emacs produced not from the master branch, you will see those prompts. For those cases where you don't use a recent-enough build of Emacs, if you don't want to see these prompts each time you visit some file in the repository, you can add this to your ~/.emacs init file: (put 'diff-add-log-use-relative-names 'safe-local-variable 'booleanp) (put 'vc-git-annotate-switches 'safe-local-variable 'stringp) From unknown Sun Jun 22 00:55:48 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#57994: 29.0.50; .dir-locals.el Resent-From: Lars Ingebrigtsen Original-Sender: "Debbugs-submit" Resent-CC: bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org Resent-Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2022 16:19:01 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 57994 X-GNU-PR-Package: emacs X-GNU-PR-Keywords: notabug To: Eli Zaretskii Cc: rms@gnu.org, 57994@debbugs.gnu.org Received: via spool by 57994-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B57994.16639499141531 (code B ref 57994); Fri, 23 Sep 2022 16:19:01 +0000 Received: (at 57994) by debbugs.gnu.org; 23 Sep 2022 16:18:34 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:41555 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1oblNq-0000Od-HN for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 23 Sep 2022 12:18:34 -0400 Received: from quimby.gnus.org ([95.216.78.240]:38680) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1oblNo-0000ON-Rf for 57994@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 23 Sep 2022 12:18:33 -0400 DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; q=dns/txt; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gnus.org; s=20200322; h=Content-Type:MIME-Version:Message-ID:Date:References: In-Reply-To:Subject:Cc:To:From:Sender:Reply-To:Content-Transfer-Encoding: Content-ID:Content-Description:Resent-Date:Resent-From:Resent-Sender: Resent-To:Resent-Cc:Resent-Message-ID:List-Id:List-Help:List-Unsubscribe: List-Subscribe:List-Post:List-Owner:List-Archive; bh=DguSuhGdfs/YOccWSFcX7/Ni0ylnTq9UE5hgfsdb5tg=; b=NYyQZTq6xN0Rc7JQyGjpvVU5Cs VXXfPDX9nelDiVrl22Mo+vmV4Qibouo/GXyUzHTm5yAoEzF3/5xtHcH+yaKFJuAcuZIGHuaPgE02G qIcejqRdugHAVKoJMxltEWn/gJmSW7aiYWe7twCso7w4Nlnd4oNJ4sCXnbBfOJGrWmIs=; Received: from [84.212.220.105] (helo=joga) by quimby.gnus.org with esmtpsa (TLS1.3:ECDHE_RSA_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256) (Exim 4.92) (envelope-from ) id 1oblNg-0003UO-UG; Fri, 23 Sep 2022 18:18:26 +0200 From: Lars Ingebrigtsen In-Reply-To: <83k05wt2c3.fsf@gnu.org> (Eli Zaretskii's message of "Thu, 22 Sep 2022 08:17:32 +0300") References: <83k05wt2c3.fsf@gnu.org> X-Now-Playing: Kate Bush's _Never For Ever_: "All We Ever Look For" Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2022 18:18:24 +0200 Message-ID: <87v8pe2hf3.fsf@gnus.org> User-Agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/29.0.50 (gnu/linux) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain X-Spam-Report: Spam detection software, running on the system "quimby.gnus.org", has NOT identified this incoming email as spam.
