While checking for Lisp hooks in the display engine, I came across some unused variables with "lucid" in their names, namely Vlucid_menu_bar_dirty_flag and Qrecompute_lucid_menubar. These could surely now be removed from Emacs, saving a small amount of space and execution time. While checking for Lisp hooks in the display engine, I came across some unused variables with "lucid" in their names, namely Vlucid_menu_bar_dirty_flag and Qrecompute_lucid_menubar. These could surely now be removed from Emacs, saving a small amount of space and execution time. A grep through the project's sources suggests there are other ghosts with "lucid", and these could probably also be removed. -- Alan Mackenzie (Nuremberg, Germany). ------------=_1657618682-31748-1-- From unknown Sat Jun 14 19:39:35 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#56502: Lucid ghosts Resent-From: Alan Mackenzie Original-Sender: "Debbugs-submit" Resent-CC: bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org Resent-Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2022 09:41:01 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 56502 X-GNU-PR-Package: emacs X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: Po Lu Cc: 56502@debbugs.gnu.org Received: via spool by 56502-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B56502.165761881532039 (code B ref 56502); Tue, 12 Jul 2022 09:41:01 +0000 Received: (at 56502) by debbugs.gnu.org; 12 Jul 2022 09:40:15 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:41668 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1oBCNK-0008Kh-Nt for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 12 Jul 2022 05:40:14 -0400 Received: from colin.muc.de ([193.149.48.1]:33465 helo=mail.muc.de) by debbugs.gnu.org with smtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1oBCNI-0008KO-Hg for 56502@debbugs.gnu.org; Tue, 12 Jul 2022 05:40:13 -0400 Received: (qmail 91213 invoked by uid 3782); 12 Jul 2022 09:40:06 -0000 Received: from acm.muc.de (p4fe15b36.dip0.t-ipconnect.de [79.225.91.54]) (using STARTTLS) by colin.muc.de (tmda-ofmipd) with ESMTP; Tue, 12 Jul 2022 11:40:06 +0200 Received: (qmail 22269 invoked by uid 1000); 12 Jul 2022 09:40:06 -0000 Date: Tue, 12 Jul 2022 09:40:06 +0000 Message-ID: References: <87tu7nxf0b.fsf@yahoo.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <87tu7nxf0b.fsf@yahoo.com> X-Submission-Agent: TMDA/1.3.x (Ph3nix) From: Alan Mackenzie X-Primary-Address: acm@muc.de X-Spam-Score: -0.0 (/) X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -1.0 (-) Hello, Po. Nobody still uses them, so they can be deleted. Thanks for the confirmation. I've just removed the things (in master) and closed the bug. -- Alan Mackenzie (Nuremberg, Germany).
