Date: Sun, 29 Nov 2020 18:55:19 +0000
A regression introduced in the Linux kernel v5.9.11 and v5.4.80 prevents the Shepherd from properly unmounting the efivars file system and shutting down the operating system on UEFI-capable hardware.

This bug has already been reported on the kernel's bug tracker:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=210367

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Further investigation shows that this regression does not affect either the shutdown process or the reboot one on GNU/Linux distributions that adopted the systemd init system. This may indicate that no attempt to automatically unmount the efivars file system is ever made on those, which raises the question: why do we explicitly unmount this file system in the first place?

I can't reproduce this issue on the Linux kernel v5.9.12 and v5.4.81.
