Here's what happened when I tried that with gzip 1.10:

$ gzip -d Java.zip
gzip: Java.zip: unknown suffix -- ignored

and there were no changes to Java.zip.

Perhaps you meant to write 'gzip -d foo.gz'? If so, can you email us a copy of 
your foo.gz file, so that we can reproduce the bug?
