As a test case:

(gnus-read-ephemeral-emacs-bug-group 35885)

Select an article by Sebastian Urban that has non-ASCII characters.
These have content-type utf-8, and content-transfer-encoding 8bit, and
they display like this:

[Message part 3 (text/plain, inline)]
I suspect that URL is using a multibyte buffer somewhere, and that leads
to ... problems.


In GNU Emacs 28.0.50 (build 52, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.24.20, cairo version 1.16.0)

You get the same error when you save the raw message in a file and read
it with G f (gnus-group-make-doc-group).

Yup, it's a general problem with nndoc.  I fixed it now for this use
case, but I'm wondering whether it'll mess things up for other data
sources.  I guess we'll find out...
