The bug was solved bu reverting the git repository as following:

git revert 6c7f615ae59b636efe5012f761a25acfd956480d

It also solved the another error i didn't notice before submitting the 
bug, where flyspell continuously wrote the following error:

flyspell-correct-popup: Symbol’s value as variable is void: --cl-rest--

when called to open a popup for grammar correction.
