At present, there doesn't seem to be any way to follow Google's explicit
instructions as to how OAuth 2.0 support should be done in free
software -- even if they tacitly are saying through unofficial channels
"but we don't really mean it" by saying that Thunderbird is still
working.

So I'm closing this bug report, as this isn't something that can be
fixed here, but it something the FSF will have to negotiate with Google.
