Then I guess that it's worth trying to add
%%% Local Variables:
%%% mode: latex
%%% End:
to the end of your LaTeX files.  If you devide your documents into some
child files using \input or \include, you can instead add a line
% -*- mode:latex -*-
as first line of the child files.
