Message #5 received at submit <at> debbugs.gnu.org (full text, mbox):
The command name base64url-encode-region causes completion
inconvenience. I am accustomed to typing base SPC dec RET
and now it does not work.
That name seems strange anyway.
Would you please rename it to base64-url-encode-region?

It's the official name of that encoding:
https://base64.guru/standards/base64url
> Would you please rename it to base64-url-encode-region?
We could rename that, but the name base64-url-encoder would not be
familiar to users, so it would be a disadvantage.
Any chance you could train yourself to type "M-x bas-d RET" instead?

What was the first release that base64url-encode-region was in?
> Any chance you could train yourself to type "M-x bas-d RET" instead?
That does not complete.

Emacs 27, so renaming is not a problem from the POV. The problem is
that this is the name of that conversion, we didn't invent it
ourselves.

Strange, it does here, in "emacs -Q".

I don't think there's anything here to fix -- the encoding is called
"base64url", so the command name is logical. So I'm closing this bug
report.
