Hi ,
I try to build libtool 2.4.6 on Ubuntu 18.04  and virtualbox (x86_64)

?  I have done first a git from git://git.savannah.gnu.org/libtool.git
Then
./boostrap
./configure

Here i could see during this command many binaries caracters  after :
     < checking for the default library search path >

And after it finish by ...ERROR ....fails sanity check !!!!

I cannot send  you  the file <config.log>  because of this binaires caracters !!

But a just a screenshot of config.log just before unreadable party:

And it continue like that more and more

I have 2 gcc on my ubuntu gcc-7 and gcc-8 and it seems that gcc-7 is executed because when i type the command :

  *   gcc -version     => i get gcc 7.4.0
