Suppose you compress a PNG image,

bzip2 foo.png

obtaining a foo.png.bz2 file. 

When this file is visited in Emacs, it is decompressed but only 'garbage' is displayed not the image, as one would expect (foo.txt.bz2 is displayed correctly).

I tested this on Windows and GNU/Linux (cairo build), both without ImageMagick.
