This comes in very handy for private appointments. This is misleading because the "a" key for nndiary defaults to composing mail (I guess because nndiary is a mail backend). This results in a message that is sent, which would be undesirable for a new user who may accidently mail something private. Instead, one must use the "S i" key to force composing a news post in order to 'request-post' to the nndiary group. I don't use nndiary, but the way you describe this makes me wonder if it is a misunderstanding. Are you sure you tried 'C-u a' in the *Group* buffer? Note the instructions say _on_ (i.e., in the *Group* buffer with point on the group), not _in_ the diary group. IMO it should work as described. Also, there is not even a "S i" binding in the *Group* buffer, whereas there is one in the *Summary* buffer (i.e., when you enter the group), which reinforces my suspicion. --=20 =C5=A0t=C4=9Bp=C3=A1n From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Fri Aug 02 17:51:05 2019 Received: (at 36849) by debbugs.gnu.org; 2 Aug 2019 21:51:05 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:57945 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1htfS5-0005L2-Co for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 02 Aug 2019 17:51:05 -0400 Received: from mail-io1-f54.google.com ([209.85.166.54]:44029) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1htfS3-0005KQ-EU for 36849@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 02 Aug 2019 17:51:04 -0400 Received: by mail-io1-f54.google.com with SMTP id k20so2092712ios.10 for <36849@debbugs.gnu.org>; Fri, 02 Aug 2019 14:51:03 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=felesatra-moe.20150623.gappssmtp.com; s=20150623; h=mime-version:references:in-reply-to:from:date:message-id:subject:to :cc:content-transfer-encoding; bh=lw9qD64kB0FZYwSL+ZQRtmSP3apnIUTa50vPPkLAlIw=; b=vVGPQO38t6yXNC8oMiLz2x6FY3V7C7LzEGSIDQaefSL0sv45ULRl01KTov8a0L6z0g dnv1eAwHRqPtcp7AT3C9TVQtqnpvXZn85XmQfMXlihZ6bYu3Cs493XGRabQLfjsT4m8Z alelYBnSTUP4fAH9Cd/G5ecOPaiyloyt7aAKUDTimoqimCBG/pBgDvQNmt5Hloea0sYt tSKmj/0TNxn3dY2ThJc9ZSp5ldSgmkYnOjIWY8iZ78maGC3DU48toQkQV5R3iv95rdac uBQIpSyZaGlxr/K/W9b6EwUbSRTT0GJrfTcODiu87jyoO4ZKQNh35e2soOHRbAJzvu8a Gjvg== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:references:in-reply-to:from:date :message-id:subject:to:cc:content-transfer-encoding; bh=lw9qD64kB0FZYwSL+ZQRtmSP3apnIUTa50vPPkLAlIw=; b=k6NJE3G4y1nfSpkbn9+eFzPOBUUf/XwfZ2rfdGyLJm41SQU56Ol/hbRr0u8g84IBWf z0WSJp5Rapw5cLI4s4A1vcyFQ/LVGkckPGC7oymThVSdyJmvn79WR9/DpiVf5WTXmOcK +DuxQqU+uY2L4jU6kT7Ps2/pXZzCg9lpAgw6Rxzvww/gAnPfvutKoq3wTXbwnCbcJAIp rNycEWTTDeuTqMDf0lp5ubgFh7wqdEkkClCnjv+DACa1bcugUKyXuyyAp0aE3bM0stgH gLuFmziRUlzWcgAYQFtJvolxGh49qaxJJeahV+0t7YK1OIrMpMKPLSvG+yBWbDR1sp0n zYsA== X-Gm-Message-State: APjAAAUdE/ZSghIW8+/DIdPjM0YPThJVHCTGBH6OfIaeeb6OnEZagpoL IBfMn65T2SxToLDSHPnw6RY2iEg6KdSu9+npskFzuw== X-Google-Smtp-Source: APXvYqzgb2OJ3HezDo6IGr7k6kn9A6fIy70LX0+rlg6pvzx5dgBmj0+1Iw9yyJStIRS4Am3B88A6mtgKz8gs5o3x5cY= X-Received: by 2002:a05:6638:63a:: with SMTP id h26mr6247931jar.92.1564782657635; Fri, 02 Aug 2019 14:50:57 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <805znk5czq.fsf@felesatra.moe> <87k1bvcvsk.fsf@gmail.com> In-Reply-To: <87k1bvcvsk.fsf@gmail.com> From: Allen Li Date: Fri, 2 Aug 2019 21:50:46 +0000 Message-ID: Subject: Re: bug#36849: 26.2; Misleading info in Gnus info about nndiary To: =?UTF-8?B?xaB0xJtww6FuIE7Em21lYw==?= Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: 36849 Cc: 36849@debbugs.gnu.org X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -1.0 (-) On Fri, Aug 2, 2019 at 5:38 PM =C5=A0t=C4=9Bp=C3=A1n N=C4=9Bmec wrote: > > On Mon, 29 Jul 2019 22:04:57 -0700 > Allen Li wrote: > > > The Gnus Info manual about nndiary says this: > > > > (info "(gnus)Sending or Not Sending") > > > > =E2=80=A2 However, since =E2=80=98nndiary=E2=80=99 also has a =E2=80= =98request-post=E2=80=99 method, you can > > also use =E2=80=98C-u a=E2=80=99 instead of =E2=80=98C-u m=E2=80= =99 on a diary group and the > > message won=E2=80=99t actually be sent; just stored locally in the= group. > > This comes in very handy for private appointments. > > > > This is misleading because the "a" key for nndiary defaults to composin= g > > mail (I guess because nndiary is a mail backend). If I `G m diary RET nndiary RET' then I get an nndiary group, and as you say, `C-u a' opens a message mode buffer, and if I put something in the To header, the message is sent to that recipient. So the documentation here is wrong -- or there's a bug, and `C-u a' is supposed to not send anything. > Instead, one must use the "S i" key to force composing a news post in > order to 'request-post' to the nndiary group. Hm. The "S i" key? That's not bound in my Group buffer. --=20 (domestic pets only, the antidote for overdose, milk.) bloggy blog: http://lars.ingebrigtsen.no From debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Fri Sep 27 04:48:27 2019 Received: (at 36849) by debbugs.gnu.org; 27 Sep 2019 08:48:27 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:45838 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1iDlvP-0004WR-AR for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 27 Sep 2019 04:48:27 -0400 Received: from mail-vk1-f169.google.com ([209.85.221.169]:34956) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1iDlvL-0004WC-E1 for 36849@debbugs.gnu.org; Fri, 27 Sep 2019 04:48:24 -0400 Received: by mail-vk1-f169.google.com with SMTP id d66so1054729vka.2 for <36849@debbugs.gnu.org>; Fri, 27 Sep 2019 01:48:23 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=felesatra-moe.20150623.gappssmtp.com; s=20150623; h=mime-version:references:in-reply-to:from:date:message-id:subject:to :cc:content-transfer-encoding; bh=83mp5KRKGFHhqeHO3CCVhNVEsQ6Za+SkRenRqZtojfI=; b=vxA1GJtWZWH5CCYZLNmbjEIqMTY8mpUp5G5bQRfQrc8ZU6YBpq6bsjGMbfGNF4mZZ4 y1wPxswfrmTyrx8rLHmk/8I4+WxSKdREgsoiMOCmngSyPeQONUyT7xri8nu02xf53YLw /1saafVEP6yBu6TOzcGONnr3bbE6jMU80C1lkYAqrhvj5YLpmPu/yud6eXhl2AB1M4wC X88ujVqqBZK2gi4GJHz1Bm6yXRBVCMvrK/dwx9lgjadK07DI7HZppBSW+oV+e80DXZZj Qp6upymuWwTyHLWEaoZuUpV/+Pzo/LYlQF/adhWGWF/3qiy6onAFA3kj29ZAljso6P9K ohOA== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:references:in-reply-to:from:date :message-id:subject:to:cc:content-transfer-encoding; bh=83mp5KRKGFHhqeHO3CCVhNVEsQ6Za+SkRenRqZtojfI=; b=tF8X9jtDMNh2hi6zDIxKMZf+1J7sbtBBZqXJpRASYLEjvjing1i3BuJLVSc1DJkU8x oLSFrz0cESWBobQlSrnz/1mg5NfGfahAtbcVg909NrrpJ0t/FaIdco0whRsGqYBC41f3 lTvRPhsdT+JMC0VxQUBrQmy8SjE5SUSH1OuE8ZrDfLTF5N9TJNf7bCtDT+CaFpyaJAcD m2n9WklPV4ddIAv5zkzcr9IvHCHOXX3H1pfKOHrgXo9MLbM7wh2N7BtpmXQSMHDWrD/e 5IMGF0NWj/bz4VcoMMeuXkBhxsNQKMjPFdfHnAGfi6DwxjkDxVjSaQV6cbnFvdayRSd+ TMaA== X-Gm-Message-State: APjAAAV866agHDBXQ9Pak2Kgp5z3j+UqXo8eYnB6DKfa0DcSM/l/aAzZ lPco9VGd5amSqBbY5LBTsmUyQY1geZTI8IWhTEYjuQ== X-Google-Smtp-Source: APXvYqzfF9lIqJIIFNE74jksjXI/62UeuvUwycu2s8DVlzQVX711R0mN+XZdq46o80ebbHFmmTA347LVYiSQbG/OQ+c= X-Received: by 2002:a1f:89c5:: with SMTP id l188mr4000557vkd.65.1569574097530; Fri, 27 Sep 2019 01:48:17 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <805znk5czq.fsf@felesatra.moe> <87o8zm6fmd.fsf@gnus.org> In-Reply-To: <87o8zm6fmd.fsf@gnus.org> From: Allen Li Date: Fri, 27 Sep 2019 08:48:06 +0000 Message-ID: Subject: Re: bug#36849: 26.2; Misleading info in Gnus info about nndiary To: Lars Ingebrigtsen Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) X-Debbugs-Envelope-To: 36849 Cc: 36849@debbugs.gnu.org X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -1.0 (-) On Sat, Sep 14, 2019 at 3:51 PM Lars Ingebrigtsen wrote: > > Allen Li writes: > > > The Gnus Info manual about nndiary says this: > > > > (info "(gnus)Sending or Not Sending") > > > > =E2=80=A2 However, since =E2=80=98nndiary=E2=80=99 also has a =E2=80= =98request-post=E2=80=99 method, you can > > also use =E2=80=98C-u a=E2=80=99 instead of =E2=80=98C-u m=E2=80= =99 on a diary group and the > > message won=E2=80=99t actually be sent; just stored locally in the= group. > > This comes in very handy for private appointments. > > > > This is misleading because the "a" key for nndiary defaults to composin= g > > mail (I guess because nndiary is a mail backend).
