   `x' hides up-to-date files.
x runs the command vc-dir-hide-up-to-date, which is an interactive
   Hide up-to-date items from display.

OK, but how to then un-hide them back? the user wonders.

There should be a documented antidote function, or one to "show all
files, even boring ones."
