After some hours, I notice it reaches 1 GiB of memory usage. I have to finalize the process to release memory. This happens even when you are not doing anything in the application. ## Steps to reproduce (using GNOME) 1. $ guix install jami-client-gnome 2. Press Alt+F2 and run "ring.cx" [2.1 Create a Jami account] 3. Press Alt+F2 and run "gnome-system-monitor" 4. Click on "Processes" 5. Locate the ".gnome-ring-rea" process 6. Observe the "Memory" usage for a few hours I don't know if step 2.1 is necessary, but I already had an account created when I noticed the problem for the first time. ## System information ``` $ guix describe Generation 2 May 20 2019 10:23:06 (current) guix 0655c16 repository URL: https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/guix.git branch: master commit: 0655c16e7561cffe2fe26bd9b24af1a0efc2c859 ``` --- https://sirgazil.bitbucket.io/ From unknown Sun Aug 17 22:09:57 2025 X-Loop: help-debbugs@gnu.org Subject: bug#36100: Jami leaks memory Resent-From: Ludovic =?UTF-8?Q?Court=C3=A8s?= Original-Sender: "Debbugs-submit" Resent-CC: bug-guix@gnu.org Resent-Date: Wed, 12 Jun 2019 12:16:02 +0000 Resent-Message-ID: Resent-Sender: help-debbugs@gnu.org X-GNU-PR-Message: followup 36100 X-GNU-PR-Package: guix X-GNU-PR-Keywords: To: sirgazil Cc: 36100@debbugs.gnu.org Received: via spool by 36100-submit@debbugs.gnu.org id=B36100.156034174513465 (code B ref 36100); Wed, 12 Jun 2019 12:16:02 +0000 Received: (at 36100) by debbugs.gnu.org; 12 Jun 2019 12:15:45 +0000 Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1]:60831 helo=debbugs.gnu.org) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1hb2AL-0003V7-IF for submit@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 12 Jun 2019 08:15:45 -0400 Received: from eggs.gnu.org ([209.51.188.92]:39706) by debbugs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.84_2) (envelope-from ) id 1hb2AK-0003Uu-9Z for 36100@debbugs.gnu.org; Wed, 12 Jun 2019 08:15:44 -0400 Received: from fencepost.gnu.org ([2001:470:142:3::e]:36849) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1hb2AE-0004GK-Vs; Wed, 12 Jun 2019 08:15:39 -0400 Received: from [2a01:e0a:1d:7270:af76:b9b:ca24:c465] (port=42744 helo=ribbon) by fencepost.gnu.org with esmtpsa (TLS1.2:RSA_AES_256_CBC_SHA1:256) (Exim 4.82) (envelope-from ) id 1hb2AE-0004CX-Fu; Wed, 12 Jun 2019 08:15:38 -0400 From: Ludovic =?UTF-8?Q?Court=C3=A8s?= References: <16b135f47a5.c48c9e1512716.4579175065592128011@zoho.com> Date: Wed, 12 Jun 2019 14:15:36 +0200 In-Reply-To: <16b135f47a5.c48c9e1512716.4579175065592128011@zoho.com> (sirgazil@zoho.com's message of "Sat, 01 Jun 2019 09:08:59 -0500") Message-ID: <878su7xamv.fsf@gnu.org> User-Agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/26.2 (gnu/linux) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-detected-operating-system: by eggs.gnu.org: GNU/Linux 2.2.x-3.x [generic] X-Spam-Score: -2.3 (--) X-BeenThere: debbugs-submit@debbugs.gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.18 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Errors-To: debbugs-submit-bounces@debbugs.gnu.org Sender: "Debbugs-submit" X-Spam-Score: -3.3 (---) Hi sirgazil, sirgazil skribis: > When I run Jami in the GNU system installed with Guix, I see that its pro= cess called ".gnome-ring-rea" starts using around 36 MiB, but then increase= s over time at slow pace. After some hours, I notice it reaches 1 GiB of memory usage. I have to finalize the process to release memory. This happens even when you are not doing anything in the application. ## Steps to reproduce (using GNOME) 1. $ guix install jami-client-gnome 2. Press Alt+F2 and run "ring.cx" [2.1 Create a Jami account] 3. Press Alt+F2 and run "gnome-system-monitor" 4. Click on "Processes" 5. Locate the ".gnome-ring-rea" process 6. Observe the "Memory" usage for a few hours I don't know if step 2.1 is necessary, but I already had an account created when I noticed the problem for the first time. ## System information ``` $ guix describe Generation 2 May 20 2019 10:23:06 (current) guix 0655c16 repository URL: https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/guix.git branch: master commit: 0655c16e7561cffe2fe26bd9b24af1a0efc2c859 ``` --- https://sirgazil.bitbucket.io/ ------------=_1601235842-9360-1--
